In a remarkably detailed note from 1887, published posthumously and little known, Nietzsche remarks that what is ‘inevitably in store’ for the humankind of the future is the ‘total economic management of the earth’. The human being will become a resource which will be consumed and used like any other resource. As this economisation of the human being and transformation into a resource is, argues Nietzsche, inevitable, he proposes a higher of man, the Übermensch, who will be able to thrive and become the new Aristocracy. We must hence read this note, which presents one of Nietzsche’s most profound and sober insights into our time, together with his suggestion that the history of the next two hundred years is nihilism and what Nietzsche means by the Übermensch and how this new ‘type’ of human – or post-human – being is supposed to create a counter-movement to the reduction of the human being as a resource. In my talk I will present a succinct summary of this note, tie it in with Nietzsche’s insights into nihilism as the future of man, and develop an aesthetic response to the challenges of the ‘future’.
In una nota straordinariamente dettagliata del 1887, pubblicata postuma e poco conosciuta, Nietzsche osserva che ciò che è ‘inevitabilmente in serbo’ per l’umanità del futuro è la ‘gestione economica totale della terra’. L’essere umano diventerà una risorsa che verrà consumata e utilizzata come qualsiasi altra risorsa. Poiché questa economizzazione dell’essere umano e la sua trasformazione in risorsa è, secondo Nietzsche, inevitabile, egli propone un uomo superiore, lo Übermensch, che sarà in grado di prosperare e diventare la nuova aristocrazia. Dobbiamo quindi leggere questa nota, che presenta una delle più profonde e sobrie intuizioni di Nietzsche sul nostro tempo, insieme al suo suggerimento che la storia dei prossimi due secoli è il nichilismo e a ciò che Nietzsche intende con lo Übermensch e a come questo nuovo ‘tipo’ di essere umano – o post-umano – dovrebbe creare un contromovimento rispetto alla riduzione dell’essere umano a risorsa. Nel mio intervento presenterò una breve sintesi di questa nota, la collegherò alle intuizioni di Nietzsche sul nichilismo come futuro dell’uomo e svilupperò una risposta estetica alle sfide del ‘futuro’.
