Le pagine che seguono si concentrano nell’analisi degli ultimi due paragrafi della Prima parte di Verità e metodo. Si sottolineano gli elementi di continuità e discontinuità dell’opera d’arte letteraria rispetto tanto alle opere d’arte che vivono nella loro rappresentazione (teatro, musica, poesia lirica), quanto rispetto alle opere d’arte che esigono comunque una ‘imperativa legalità’ spaziale e temporale per la loro fruizione (pittura, scultura, architettura). Da questo confronto emerge la peculiare potenza della letteratura in quanto espressione linguistica e si delinea un rapporto presente/passato che accosta Gadamer molto più a Hegel che ai maestri dell’ermeneutica filosofica.

The following pages focus the analysis of the last two paragraphs of the first part of Truth and Method. They emphasize the elements of continuity and discontinuity of the work of literary art as compared to the works of art that live in their representation (theater, music, lyric poetry), as compared to the works of art that still require an «imperative legality» in time and space for their enjoyment (painting, sculpture, architecture). This comparison shows the peculiar power of literature as linguistic expression and it reports the link between present and past that approaches Gadamer to Hegel more than the masters of philosophical hermeneutics.
