[I, 2, 30/06/15] PAUL RICOEUR E LA SINFONIA DEI LINGUAGGIPAUL RICOEUR AND THE SYMPHONY OF THE LANGUAGES

The idea that, of all the arts, music is the one that is not mimetic bears out the difference between music’s relation to the affective field and narrative’s imitation of action. By resisting the assimilation of music to narrative, Ricœur indicates the place of music’s depiction of feelings and moods in relation to the practical field of our experiences. By constructing worlds of ‘singular essences in the realm of feeling’ individual works push back the boundaries of our affective experiences by modulating our elective affinities with the world. Indeed, mimesis in music evidences the enigma of time. Through its poetic redescriptions of the disproportion in the dimension of feeling between our part in being and the lack we experience in the face of our non-mastery of time, music expresses the pathos and joy of our mortal dwelling.

L’idea che, tra tutte le arti, è quella non mimetica conferma la differenza tra la relazione che la musica ha con il campo affettivo e l’imitazione dell’azione fatta dal racconto. Resistendo all’assimilazione della musica al racconto, Ricœur indica il luogo della raffigurazione, fatta dalla musica, di sentimenti e stati d’animo, in relazione al campo pratico delle nostre esperienze. Costruendo mondi di ‘essenze singolari nel campo del sentire’, le opere, nella loro singolarità, spingere indietro i confini delle nostre esperienze affettive, modulando le nostre affinità elettive con il mondo. La mimesis nella musica, infatti, evidenzia l’enigma del tempo. Attraverso le sue ridescrizioni poetiche della nostra sproporzione – nel sentirci ‘tra’ essere e mancanza , così come sperimentiamo di fronte alla nostra non-padronanza del tempo – la musica esprime il pathos e la gioia del nostro abitare mortale
