In this interview, Zygmunt Bauman helps us in a careful and clear analysis as to the causes and consequences of this serious emergency, which has become an enormous factory of refugees ‘running-for-life’, who knock at doors and force them to open, bringing from faraway places bad news and bad omens. He confronts the responsibility of politics in having destabilized the whole area between the two Tropics, of boundless liberalism and the enormous inequality which in a liquid society are destined to communicate and be confused. Bauman is convinced that this global crisis cannot be faced through local answers which look to the past deluding us as to whether humanity is able to go backwards, and he proposes the only possible resolutions: review the tie between power and politics, accept our cosmopolitan dimension and hence give refuge.

In questa intervista, Zygmunt Bauman ci aiuta ad un’analisi attenta e chiara sulle cause e le conseguenze di questa grave emergenza diventata un’enorme fabbrica di rifugiati in ‘corsa per la vita’ che bussano e forzano le porte portando da lontani luoghi cattive notizie e cattivi presagi: le responsabilità politiche nell’aver destabilizzato un intero bacino, il liberismo sfrenato e le conseguenti enormi disuguaglianze costrette, nella nostra società liquida, a comunicare e confondersi. Convinto che non si possa affrontare questa emergenza globale attraverso risposte locali che si rivolgono al passato illudendosi che per il destino dell’umanità sia possibile tornare indietro, Bauman è convinto: occorre ripensare il legame tra potere e politica, accettare la nostra dimensione cosmopolita e, dunque, accogliere.
