Free living creates beauty and helps to appreciate it, and beauty helps us to love free living. If we live free – and this paper will explain what it means – we are able to appreciate the beauty of the cities, of the natural landscape. If we do not live free, the beauty of the city and the landscape loses its splendor. So: where does beauty come from? It comes from us – this is the thesis I want to propose. It is our soul that projects beauty, which gives beauty to the places. The places, even the most beautiful, do not have beauty in itself, if there are no people with a free spirit. But what does it mean to have a free soul and when we have a free soul? This is the point.

Il vivere libero crea bellezza e aiuta ad apprezzarla; e la bellezza aiuta l’amore del vivere libero. In altre parole, se viviamo liberi – e spiegherò cosa vuol dire – siamo in grado di apprezzare la bellezza delle città, del paesaggio naturale. Se non viviamo liberi, la bellezza delle città e del paesaggio perde splendore. Quindi: da dove viene la bellezza? Viene da dentro di noi – questa è la tesi che voglio proporre. È il nostro animo che proietta bellezza, che dona bellezza ai luoghi. I luoghi, anche i più belli, anche la piazza più armoniosa, non hanno bellezza in sé, se non ci sono persone con l’animo libero. Ma che cosa vuol dire avere l’animo libero e quando abbiamo l’animo libero? Questo è il punto.
