[IX, 22, 23] NIETZSCHE TODAYNIETZSCHE OGGI

This article consists of two main parts. In the first part, I will analyse the role that the sea and Italy played in Nietzsche’s life. In the second part, I will examine the role of the metaphor of the sea in the last stage of Nietzsche’s thought, as this is the stage in which Nietzsche employs such a metaphor most frequently. I assume the traditional division of Nietzsche’s thought into three main periods: the ‘early phase’ (1870-1876), the ‘middle phase’ or the ‘Enlightenment phase’ (1878-1882), and the ‘late phase’ (1883-1888). Ultimately, in this article I will show how, both in his life and in his philosophical works, Nietzsche conceives of the sea as a source of life and knowledge.

Questo articolo si divide in due parti principali. Nella prima parte mostrerò l’importanza che il mare e l’Italia hanno avuto nella vita di Nietzsche. Nella seconda parte esaminerò il ruolo della metafora del mare nella fase matura del pensiero di Nietzsche, poiché è la fase in cui questa metafora ricorre più frequentemente. Nella mia analisi mi baserò sulla tradizionale divisione del pensiero di Nietzsche in tre periodi fondamentali: la prima fase o ‘fase giovanile’ (dal 1870 al 1876), la fase intermedia o ‘illuminista’ (dal 1878 al 1882), e la ‘fase matura’ (dal 1883 al 1888). Fondamentalmente, lo scopo principale di questo articolo è mostrare come il mare costituisca fonte di vita e conoscenza sia per il Nietzsche uomo che per il Nietzsche filosofo.
