Sarah Kofman (1934-1994), a leading figure in 20th century French thought, helped to define the critical lines of the re-reading of the German philosopher in the French milieu as early as the 1970s. Kofman immediately identified certain nuclei of Nietzsche’s thought, such as the metaphor, a key figure in the philosopher’s writing, in Nietzsche et la métaphore (1972). Furthermore, the question of style, the beating heart in which language and writing show the author. This theme, already clear from the first book, will later form the theme of many other essays. The comparison with Nietzsche unfolds throughout his thought, up to Explosion I and II (1994), a monumental analysis of Ecce Homo. Kofman finds in Nietzsche not only an object of study, but above all a master of ‘listening’ for a profoundly renewed and anti-metaphysical philosophy.

Kofman identifica da subito alcuni nuclei del pensiero di Nietzsche, come la metafora, figura chiave della scrittura del filosofo, in Nietzsche et la métaphore (1972). Inoltre, la questione dello stile, cuore pulsante in cui linguaggio e scrittura mostrano l’autore. Questa tema, già chiaro sin dal primo libro, costituirà poi il tema di molti altri saggi. Il confronto con Nietzsche si dipana in tutto il suo pensiero, sino a Explosion I e II (1994), monumentale analisi di Ecce homo. Kofman ritrova in Nietzsche non solo un oggetto di studio, ma soprattutto un maestro di ‘ascolto’ per una filosofia profondamente rinnovata e antimetafisica.
