Is the subject free? What relationship does it have with the world, that is, with history, with the big and small events that occur, with the materiality of the things that surround it and in which it is immersed? These are the questions that run through Sartre’s entire philosophy. Apparently, there are no traces of such a question in Deleuze. In reality, when considering the problematic relationship between man and the world, the two philosophers are much closer than they might appear at first glance. Rhythm, repetition and resumption are three terms on which it is possible to base a comparison between the two on this theme. For both, in fact, freedom is a matter of resumption, as Sartre would say. Or, as Deleuze would say, of repetition-rhythm. If there is a moral, for both it takes the form of this sort of rhythmic resumption.

Il soggetto è libero? Che rapporto ha con il mondo, cioè con la storia, con i grandi e piccoli eventi che accadono, con la materialità delle cose che lo circondano e in cui è immerso? Sono queste le domande che attraversano tutta la filosofia di Sartre. Apparentemente, non vi è traccia di tale interrogativo in Deleuze. In realtà, quando si considera il rapporto problematico tra l’uomo e il mondo, i due filosofi sono molto più vicini di quanto possa sembrare a prima vista. Ritmo, ripetizione e ripresa sono tre termini su cui è possibile basare un confronto tra i due su questo tema. Per entrambi, infatti, la libertà è una questione di ripresa, come direbbe Sartre. O, come direbbe Deleuze, di ripetizione-ritmo. Se c’è una morale, per entrambi essa assume la forma di questo tipo di ripresa ritmica.
