[III, 7, 28/02/17] THE UNTIMELY. FROM NIETZSCHE TO USL'INATTUALE. DA NIETZSCHE A NOI

Starting from the Nietzschean idea of ‘Untimely’ (an untimely meditation should criticize that of which we are proud), Maria Pansini, relying also on her experience as photographer and professor of History of photography, asks whether it is possible to speak about ‘untimley’ in photography and asks which photographers can be considered ‘untimely’. Passing through the work of August Sander, Robert Frank and William Klein, she comes to James Nachtwey and wonders whether it is appropriate today to publish (or not) images of pain.

Partendo dall’affermazione nietzscheana per la quale una ‘considerazione inattuale’ deve criticare «ciò di cui il nostro tempo va fiero», Maria Pansini, partendo dalla sua esperienza di fotografa e docente di storia della fotografia, si interroga se sia possibile parlare di un’inattualità della fotografia e su quali fotografi possano essere considerati ‘inattuali’. Attraversando August Sander, Robert Frank e William Klein, giunge quindi all’attualità inattuale di James Nachtwey, interrogandosi sull’opportunità o meno di pubblicare oggi immagini di dolore.
